Indicative of the progress of ITI to date is its participation in more than 20 competitive R&D projects in the period 1998-2001. In the same period, the funding received from the AP Government and the private sector exceeded. The aforementioned research programmes are being carried out in cooperation with academic, research and industrial partners.

Regarding the future plans of ITI, there will be an emphasis on the further strengthening of the existing Laboratories, aiming to establish them as Centres of Excellence. as well as on the adoption of flexible methods for the expansion of its R&D activities under the auspices of the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas . ITI will concentrate on basic, applied and technological research in thematic areas which are considered as of strategic importance for the national economy – in conjunction with the priorities of the corresponding Operational Programmes of the 3rd Community Support Framework, the activities of large business groups and small and medium enterprises active in the Information Technology ( IT) sector.
